7th TangoAires Festival – Xanthi

1–3 May 2026

House of Culture FEX

Thank you for being part of it.

The TangoAires Festival is part of the ongoing activities of the TangoAires community in Xanthi. Each edition invites internationally recognised artists and offers dancers from the wider region the opportunity to deepen their understanding of Argentine Tango through seminars, social dancing and shared experience.

Rather than following a fixed annual schedule, every festival is organised when the right artistic direction and conditions come together.

The 7th edition continues this journey by welcoming Erica Rossi and Juan Cupini, a renowned international tango couple whose work combines strong stage presence with a deep respect for the social essence of tango.

7th TangoAires Festival Erica Rossi Juan Cupini

Guest Teachers: Erica Rossi & Juan Cupini

Erica Rossi and Juan Cupini form a renowned international tango couple who have combined their careers in a duo with a strong stage presence and artistic identity.

With experience in major companies and venues around the world, they have built a solid repertoire that seamlessly integrates stage and salon tango, combining natural movement, technical precision and musical sensitivity.

Through their research into traditional tango movements, they have developed their own language, one that respects the essence of tango and the embrace while exploring new possibilities for movement.

Their work is based on a constant search for evolution without losing its roots, achieving a balance between tradition, innovation and virtuosity.

Throughout their careers, they have been invited to join various companies and participate in numerous international festivals as instructors and judges.

During their shared dancing route, they have been finalists in the Tango Mundial of 2025, in Tango de pista category, while this winter are on global tour with German Cornejo’s Tango After Dark.

Workshops with Erica Rossi & Juan Cupini

During the festival weekend, four workshops took place.

Two seminars were held on Saturday and two on Sunday, offering dancers the opportunity to explore different aspects of tango technique, creativity and musical expression.

1. Complex Sequences and Combinations

Beginner – Intermediate

In this module we worked on sequences that progress from simple to complex, exploring how to build fluid, clear and well-structured combinations within the dance.

3. Forbidden Steps – Creativity and Breaking the Mold

Intermediate – Advanced

A special module inspired by the search for innovative movements through elastics, expansions and cushioning.

This class invited dancers to explore creativity and expand the boundaries of tango while keeping the embrace at the centre of the dance.

2. Circular and Continuous Movements

Beginner – Intermediate

This seminar focused on circular systems, continuity of movement, turns and the development of fluid transitions that allow the dance to flow naturally.

4. Combinations of Hooks and Boleos

Intermediate – Advanced

In this seminar explored different types of hooks and boleos, their points of connection, the various qualities of movement and the specific leads that allow their precise and musical execution.

Σπίτι πολιτισμού ΦΕΞ House of culture

House of Culture FEX

In the bustling alleys of the Old Town lies the Cultural House of FEX. A building from the early 20th century, designed in neoclassical style. It was constructed on the main street of the town at the time to host the “Hellenic Club” and is characteristic of the communal architecture of the final years of Ottoman rule. It stands as a donation from merchant Michail Matsinis, a benefactor of Xanthi.
