5th Tango Aires Marathon in Xanthi Tango Marathon Greece

Welcome to the 5th TangoAires Marathon, a four-day celebration of Argentine Tango in the heart of Xanthi, Greece.

From November 26 to 29, 2026, dancers from Greece and around the world will come together to share embraces, beautiful tandas and unforgettable moments in one of the Greece’s most charming and welcoming cities.

At TangoAires, we believe that a great marathon is not measured by the number of participants, but by the quality of the experience. Every detail is carefully designed to create comfortable dancing conditions, a balanced leader/follower ratio, excellent music, warm hospitality and an atmosphere where strangers become friends.

Throughout the weekend you’ll enjoy more than just milongas. You’ll discover the unique character of Xanthi, experience Greek hospitality, and become part of an international tango community that keeps growing year after year.

The Venues - Beautiful spaces for unforgettable embraces

The Marathon takes place in carefully selected historic venues in the city of Xanthi, including the House of Culture of FEX, the Old Town Hall, and the Foundation of Thracian Art & Tradition (Tobacco Warehouse Π). These preserved buildings carry the legacy of the city’s golden era and offer a unique atmosphere where history and tango meet.

Whether you’re dancing until the early morning hours or enjoying a coffee between tandas, every venue has been chosen to make your marathon experience relaxed, social and unforgettable, surrounded by the character and elegance of Xanthi’s rich past.

TangoAires Marathon Regulations

A. Registration Process

  • Please complete the registration form by signing in with your Google account. Once your application has been submitted, you will receive an automated confirmation email acknowledging receipt of your application.
  • Applications will be reviewed in stages, and delivery of the acceptance emails will start upon August 1st.

How do we create the participants’ list?

Our goal is to create a marathon where every participant enjoys high-quality dancing, meaningful connections, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

For this reason, applications are evaluated based on a combination of factors rather than on a first-come, first-served basis.

During the selection process, we consider:

  • A balanced leader/follower ratio, ensuring that both leaders and followers have equal opportunities to dance throughout the event.
  • An international and diverse community of dancers, bringing together participants from Greece and abroad, giving the marathon its unique international character.
  • A balance between old friends and first-time participants. We look forward to welcoming back those who have shared our embrace over the years while also opening our community to dancers experiencing the TangoAires Marathon for the first time.
  • The quality of the social dancing experience, with respect for the ronda, fellow dancers, and the values of social Argentine Tango.
  • Comfort on the dance floor. To ensure that every tanda remains enjoyable, the total number of participants will remain limited.

As is the case with most tango marathons, individual follower registrations usually outnumber leader registrations. To maintain a balanced role ratio, couple registrations will therefore receive priority.

  • If your application cannot be accepted due to leader/follower balance, it will automatically be placed on the waiting list.
  • Payment must be completed within 10 days after receiving your acceptance email confirming your registration.
  • Daily passes are not available. Registration is required to join any milonga or any other Marathon activity.

B. Cancellation & Refund Policy

If you are unable to attend the Marathon due to personal reasons, your registration may:

  1. Be transferred to another participant, provided that you have arranged the replacement yourself and the transfer is approved by the organizers; or
  2. Be transferred to the next TangoAires event organized by FEX.

In the event that the Marathon is cancelled by the organizers due to unforeseen circumstances, your Marathon Pass fee will be refunded in full, excluding any applicable bank transfer charges.

C. Privacy Policy

All personal information collected during the registration process remains strictly confidential and will never be disclosed to third parties. It will be used exclusively for communication regarding the TangoAires Marathon.

During the Marathon, photographs and videos will be taken for promotional and archival purposes. If you do not wish to appear in published photos or videos, please inform the organizers before the event begins.

For more information, please refer to the FEX Privacy Policy.

A living process

The Tango Aires Marathon is not a fixed formula.
It evolves through people, encounters, and shared experiences, while remaining faithful to its values.

Each edition stands on its own, yet all are connected by the same thread.

The Tango Aires group operates and develops its artistic and educational activities under the cultural umbrella of the Filoprodos Enosi Xanthis (FEX), a historic cultural organization with a long-standing contribution to the cultural life of the city.
This collaboration provides a meaningful framework for presenting Argentine Tango as a living cultural expression, connecting dance with education, music, and shared community experience.
