2nd Tango Aires Marathon in Xanthi, Greece
The 2nd Tango Aires Marathon is now a fact
The 2nd Tango Aires Marathon has come to an end, confirming the steady evolution of the Tango Aires community through care, consistency, and shared experience.
For four days, the city of Xanthi hosted an international tango marathon that brought together dancers from different countries, cultures, and tango journeys, creating a common space of connection on and off the dance floor.
Below, you will find reflections from participants, photos and videos from the event, as well as a message from the Tango Aires team.
An International Tango Marathon in Historic Venues of Xanthi
From the very beginning, the Tango Aires Marathon has been organically connected to the city of Xanthi and its distinctive character.
During the 2nd Tango Aires Marathon, historic buildings and characteristic venues across the city hosted milongas and gatherings, creating an environment where tango naturally met space, memory, and history.
These venues did not function merely as a backdrop, but as an active part of the overall experience, strengthening the bond between tango, the city, and its people.
The music that shaped the 2nd Tango Aires Marathon
Music played a central role in the experience of the 2nd Tango Aires Marathon.
Throughout the marathon, the DJs shaped the atmosphere of the dance floor, accompanying the tandas and moments of connection, and giving rhythm and continuity to the flow of the dance.
A Message from the Tango Aires Team
A message that connects us
We will use almost the same thank-you message we shared last year after the end of our marathon.
Not because there is nothing new to say, but because it reflects something essential: in this team, we build bonds with people.
The end as a new beginning
Let the end of the 2nd Tango Aires Marathon be the beginning of new friendships, new embraces, and new encounters. All of us, the Tango Aires team, are left without words.
A shared effort
We worked together… we got tired, we stayed up late, we felt stressed but we did it together.
And this collective effort led to something unexpectedly beautiful:
having all of you with us, in a small city in Northern Greece.
Our volunteers
First of all, we would like to thank our volunteers, who offered their time and love. Always present with a smile, they played a vital role in making everyone feel welcome.
Without you, we honestly would not have survived the four days! We also thank everyone who enriched our buffet with their homemade delicacies! Everything was absolutely delicious!
Catering, sound and support behind the scenes
Our heartfelt thanks to Sofia and Fotini from the catering team, who worked beyond regular hours to provide us with fresh treats whenever we needed them. We thank Nikos Intzes for taking care of our sound. We would also like to thank Ifigeneia Spanopoulou, responsible for the House of Art & Thought – Manos Hadjidakis Residence, as well as Dimitrios Antonoglou and Panagiotis Lazaridis, who supported us generously and without hesitation.
Sponsors and local supporters
We thank our sponsors, who offered their products so that all our guests could taste a piece of our city: Paparaskevas, Rosidis, Bebekidis, Pleteno, as well as the local businesses YDRO COSMOS, Flower Factory, Tam-Tam Traditional Café, 41 and Vale, and The House of Shadow – To Spiti tis Skias, for supporting our shared “madness”.
Creators and exhibitors
A big thank you to Despina Damianidou (Elegancia Porteña), Aikaterini-Styliani Kimourtzis (Cathrine Stella Shoe Collection),
Polytimi Kitsidi (Polytimi Nature Awakening), and Pleteno Koinsep (handmade products), who enriched the event with their beautiful creations.
Capturing the moments
We thank Antonis Antonaros and Alexis Kadoglou, who, although the moments are already engraved in our minds and hearts, will make sure they remain alive through time.
Our DJs
A huge thank you to our DJs and, more accurately, our friends Vassili Notis, TDj Rafail Saltas, Hakkı İnce, Mickoska Dance, Mata Venci Djorevi, Sarah Karavasili, and TDj Yiannis Dafnis, who filled our dance floors with their musical choices.
The venues that hosted us
We thank the Management Committee of the Wakf Property, who trusted us with the beautiful Tobacco Warehouse, where we worked with dedication and care to create a space that truly welcomed everyone. We also thank the Region for their trust and for granting us access to the historic residence of Manos Hadjidakis. Without these venues, nothing would have been the same.
To all of you
Above all, we thank all of you for the warm energy you brought to our team and our city. We promise that we will carry the same warmth forward and continue to share similar experiences together.
An apology and a promise
We would like to sincerely apologize to everyone who was unable to register in time. Our concern for offering the best possible experience to those already participating, maintaining balance between leaders and followers, and ensuring proper use of our venues made us cautious about opening more spots.
We will do our best to be even more prepared and better organized next year.

Photos and Videos from the 2nd Tango Aires Marathon
The moments of the 2nd Tango Aires Marathon were captured through the lenses of the photographers and videographers of the event.
Photos and videos document the energy of the dance floor, the encounters between dancers, and the unique atmosphere created across the venues of Xanthi.
It's a great privilege to be a photographer.
First you hang out with models...
Then comes the tango. At this point the inner beauty is possible to surpass the outer beauty. You're fascinated by the outer beauty, you fall in love with the inner beauty... When I'm not working (if I'm not the eved photographer i.e.) to photograph the whole, I'm photographing my joy of seeing. I think it's important to admire the person.. I would like them to show up in my photographs. For the organization now ,a big thank you for sharing our common love and working so that we can live important moments.. Another thank you that we can have important festivals, make friends and meet again in this remote area. It was the 2 entision but essentially the 10 (it has happened before under a different name. I leave the most important ones last... Peace, Leah, John the Taste, Kostas (the small one on purpose), who shared a couch, and that makes the moments more important.. Hasta proxima as we say in my village!Alexandros Parotidis - Photographer
