Who We Are – Tango Aires

Argentine Tango in Xanthi has been shaped since 2003 by the people of Tango Aires, a community built around connection, expression and presence through dance.

Our journey began in 2003, when Argentine Tango first found its way to the city through a small group of people driven by curiosity and passion. Those early years laid the foundations of what Tango Aires would become: a space shaped by learning, music, shared practice, and the slow building of a community rooted in respect for tango tradition and its living evolution.

In 2008, after several years of creative growth, the group expanded and became part of the Argentine Tango team of FEX, the oldest cultural association in Xanthi. Since then, Tango Aires has maintained a continuous and active presence in the city, remaining open to both the local and the international tango scene.

Classes, Growth & Community

Throughout the years, Tango Aires has collaborated with distinguished Greek and international tango teachers, focusing not only on technique, but also on musicality, communication, and the philosophy of Argentine Tango.

Classes and practicas gradually evolved into a vibrant meeting point for dancers of different ages and backgrounds. Here, tango is approached as a shared language — inclusive, human, and deeply social.

Events & International Presence

Tango Aires regularly organizes milongas, workshops, and large-scale tango events, welcoming dancers and artists from Greece and abroad.

A special place is held by the Tango Aires Marathon, which has become a reference point within the tango community, attracting international visitors and highlighting Xanthi as an emerging tango destination in Northern Greece.

Each event is curated with a clear intention:
to offer authentic tango experiences, built on quality, care, and respect for both the dance and the people who share it.

Our Vision

Our vision is the sustainable growth and meaningful transmission of Argentine Tango in Xanthi and beyond.

We aim to create a space where people can:

  • discover tango from the very beginning

  • deepen their practice and understanding

  • or simply belong to a community connected through movement and music

Tango Aires continues to evolve, staying true to what has always been at the heart of tango:
human connection through shared presence.
